Ascendice Set Up Guide

Ascendice employs a complex network of over 100 electronic components, intricately working together to generate overlapping magnetic fields that seamlessly levitate your d20.

Follow this guide to master sensing these magnetic fields and expertly position your Ascendice for optimal levitation.

Video Guide

In this video we show how to set up your Ascendice and what to expect from the magnetic levitation.

Setting Up

Step 1: The Dice

1 • Give your Ascendice a good shake to ensure the Neodymium Core is free to move.

This is imporant to the stability and balance of the d20.

Step 2: Power

2a • Plug the AC/DC adapter into a power outlet, ensuring the indicator light turns on.

2b • Firmly press the other end of the adapter into the base.

Step 3: Mounting

3a • Ensure there is no ferrous metal near by. Ferrous metals will interfere with the magnetic fields and cause the die to vibrate while floating or even be difficult or impossible to mount.

3b • Use the included base protector while you practice mounting your Ascendice to keep the die and base pristine.

3c • Align the d20 in the centre of the base, about 1 cm or 1/2 inch above the base, and gently release.

Mounting Ascendice involves feeling the reaction of the die to the magnetic fields and locating the sweet spot. Use the base protector to help you centre the die and with a little practice, you’ll quickly develop a feel for the process.

FAQ

Q: Should the d20 rattle?

A: Yes, the rattling is normal and intentional. The freely moving neodymium core inside the die is a crucial design element, ensuring easy mounting, stable levitation, and fair, unbiased rolls.

Q: Is the d20 balanced for fair rolls?

A: Absolutely! We’ve meticulously encapsulated a spherical neodymium core right at the centre of the d20. This ensures perfect balance, making it as fair and unbiased as any high-quality rolling die.

The core and the die can move completely independently of each other and when it rolls it definitely doesn’t feel like a normal d20. That said, this in no way affects the fairness of the die. Because the core is spherical in a spherical shell there is no side which the core favours and the die can spin in the air and roll on the table to give a completely random result.

Q: Can the d20 be rolled while it’s floating?

A: While the floating d20 creates a stunning visual effect, magnetic levitation is a fine tuned technology. External forces can disrupt the levitation, causing the die to fall. It’s possible to gently flick the d20 while it’s floating for a pseudo-roll, for a true and fair roll, we recommend lifting the d20 off the base, rolling it as you would normally, and then placing it back on the base for display.

Q: Does the base make any noise?

A: You may hear small adjustments in the electronics, especially while mounting your Ascendice. Otherwise, the base will operate silently.

Q: Can I leave Ascendice powered on?

A: Yes! The Ascendice base is made from the highest qulity electronic components and can withstand years of continuous use.

Trouble Shooter

Issue: My Ascendice is hard to mount or vibrates while floating.

Solution: Ensure there is no ferrous metal near by. Ferrous metals will interfere with the magnetic fields and cause the die to vibrate while floating or even be difficult or impossible to mount.
